Services and Departments
Administration Department
The Administration Department includes the Town Manager, Town Clerk, and Deputy Town Clerk. This department is responsible for providing support to the Town and all of its other departments. The staff in this department is responsible for water/sewer billing and collections, municipal tax billing and collections, zoning, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and benefits administration for all departments. Administrative personnel can help citizens establish their water/sewer accounts, provide information on all Townfunctions and services, and handle all planning and zoning related questions. Please contact the Town Hall at 910-439-5111 if our staff can be of assistance to you. Our office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday at the Town Hall located at 110 W Allenton Street.
Police Department
The Town of Mt. Gilead Police Department is located at 107-109 W. Allenton across the street from the Town Hall. The police department currently has five full time officers and a number of part-time reserve officers. The Town of Mt. Gilead police department works hard to make Mt. Gilead a safe place for all of its citizens, and has given Mt. Gilead one of the lowest crime rates in Montgomery County.
Park Program
Reserve your Spot Early - Summer vacation is almost here and once again, the Mt Gilead Recreation Committee will be offering a summer park program at Stanback Park and Pool. Cathy Haithcock will be the director of Park Program/Pool and has many fun and educational activities planned for the six-week program. All activities are supervised by adults as well as high school/college counselors who are all CPR/First Aid trained and Certified as Professional Lifeguards by the National Red Cross.

- Open Monday through Friday 1pm to 5 pm.
- Sat and Sun 1pm to 6 pm.
- Tuesday night 6 to 7 free Adult swimming lessons.
- Wednesday nights Water Aerobic classes 6 to 7 $1.00 a class.
- Thursday nights July and August teen night $1.00 per person 6 to 8.
- Pool may be rented for 2 hour parties at $80.00 per party and includes 2 lifeguards.
- Times for parties can be Monday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights or Saturday mornings.

Public Works
The Town of Mt. Gilead Public Works department is responsible for a wide variety of services to the citizens of the Town. Personnel in this department are responsible for the maintenance of the Town’s water and sewer lines, the operation of its wastewater treatment plant, the maintenance of Town facilities, and many other tasks.
The Town contracts with Browning-Ferris Industries to provide solid waste pickup for its citizens. Currently, the Town does not offer any recycling programs but Uwharrie Environmental Regional Landfill has a variety of recycling programs and is located in nearby Troy.
Fire Department
The Town of Mt. Gilead fire department is an all volunteer department, currently with 22 active members. The Fire Department boasts an ISO rating of 6, one of the lowest rates in the County. This low rating helps to keep the homeowner’s insurance rates for our Town low.
